Your car doors are locked, the car seat is installed properly, you and your children are seat belted, you’re driving with your hands at the recommended 10 and 2 positions on the steering wheel, and your mirrors are adjusted. You smile at the baby in the back and get rolling. A short while into your 2 drive, a rogue piece of metal nicks your windshield. You check your mirrors for nearby cars and pull over to the right and stop at a safe spot on the highway. You’ve done everything right.
The same attention and care and you take in driving, TeleGlass takes in its customers and services. Keep TeleGlass in your phone contacts along with the rest of your emergency numbers. Call us from the nearest rest or donut shop, wherever you are, and we’ll send one of our skilled technicians to restore the integrity of your auto glass. The nick in your auto glass will be injected with a resin-based bonding agent to stop the windshield from further cracking and damage. You will be back on the road in no time!

What’s the best way to defrost your auto glass in the morning? Imagine this scenario. You’re about to leave your house and it is freezing cold. You dread those extra fifteen minutes each morning waiting for your car to heat up. There is an easy solution to your problem. Try a remote starter.
Remote starters are used to preheat cars in the winter and pre-cool cars in the summer. A remote starter is a small device that allows you to turn on the car from usually around 1000 feet away. It is excellent for the winter months, since you can start your car ten to fifteen minutes before getting in. Additionally, your windshield will not go through that awkward fogging phase while driving . Instead, the automobile glass will have already cleared by the time you get in the vehicle.
Installing a remote starter is simple. There are no wires. Also, most starters come with keyless entry options, in other words, you can unlock and unlock your doors from 1000 feet away. Some starters even come with panic buttons for safety. Other features can include: a remote to pop the trunk, car finder function and a remote to control headlights.
Here at TeleGlass, we think remote starters are a great idea to keep warm and safe and your auto glass clear. However, if you do have a crack in the windshield and are in need of a glass repair, please contact us today. Windshields are our specialty. For a windshield repair, our highly skilled technicians will fix your auto glass quickly and efficiently. We guarantee it. So please visit TeleGlass.com and check us out!

Living in New England, I know that winter can be a terrifying time to drive. Trying to steer while on black ice coupled with snow barreling into your windshield can make for a dangerous experience. This winter, however, you can finally be prepared by creating a windshield safety kit.
To begin the kit would include a durable rain repellant or auto glass treatment specially designed to improve a driver’s ability to see clearly through rain and ice. The sign of a good repellant will cause the rain to bead up and roll off the automobile glass. The chemical bond should also prevent snow and ice from sticking to windshields. Before going to work in the morning, you should be able to wipe the ice off your glass instead of scraping it.
The second thing in your kit should be a weatherproof tarp, if you do not store your car in a garage, or leave your car exposed to the elements in an outdoor parking lot while at work. A tarp or windshield cover will prevent the build up of snow and ice on your car’s glass. A windshield cover has straps that wrap around the car doors and hold it in place, and it can be easily purchased at an auto parts shop.
Lastly, make sure you have plenty of wiper fluid in order to clean dirt and debris off your windshield. This is an essential part of windshield safety, since leftover debris could cause a chip or crack, which could lead to an auto glass repair or full replacement glass.
At TeleGlass, we hope that glass repairs are something that can be avoided. Yet if you are in need of a windshield repair or another type of glass repair, you can contact us right here at TeleGlass.com.

When it gets cold outside, it’s time to start thinking about your windshield. Windshields are durable for the most part; however, if you already have a hairline crack in the auto glass, it could spread in the cold, turning into a major crack. The last thing you want to deal with is full replacement glass. Finding a quality windshield de-icer can eliminate any potential problems with windshield replacement during the winter months.
A de-icer is a spray that helps melt ice, snow and slush. It will not dissolve every single piece of ice, yet it will make your windshield easier to clean or scrape. A quality de-icer will not smear or smudge automobile glass, nor will the contents freeze or cause lessened visibility. To properly use a de-icer, first turn on your car’s engine. Then keep the defroster fan at a low level while the heat is on high to ensure that the glass does not crack, causing you an auto glass repair. Next spray the de-icer fluid on the windshield. Many car owners actually make their own de-cing formula such as one part water to one part vinegar. Use a scraper in a downward motion and remove snow or ice. The de-icer should make the job much easier.
Believe or not, there are also de-icers for car locks. They are very cheap, around $2 or so, and very small, about the size of a larger cigarette lighter. In fact, keychain de-icers can be bought at the local mall or a dealership. Lock de-icers are becoming fancier now, combing the de-icer, keychain and flashlight all in one for under $10.
If the winter weather does get to your windshield and you find yourself in need of a glass repair, don’t hesitate to contact us at TeleGlass.com . We have the highest quality technicians for your windshield repair. You can set up an appointment at one of our convenient locations or our mobile technicians are more than happy to perform the service in your driveway.

In a tragic turn of events, Dawn Roe, mother of four, was driving in Plymouth, Indiana when sun glare obstructed her view, causing Roe not to see a semi-truck stopped in her lane. She crashed into the back of the truck and, sadly, died at the scene.
Out of tragedy often comes triumph, which is the case for Dawn Roe’s father, Jack Roe. As he stated in an article on BradentonHerald.com, “Time may heal some things but time will never heal the death of a child.” To aid the healing process, the elder Roe decided to create transitional automobile glass that could be used for windshields. The glass will work like transitional lenses on eyeglasses, depending on the conditions, when the sun hits the windshield, it will adjust the tint. Roe believes an invention such as his would have saved his daughter’s life.
He has applied for a provisional patent for transitional glass tinting and has been writing senators to inform them of his intent. Motivated by receiving patent-pending status this past July, Roe pushed forward and pitched his idea to Chrysler, GM and Ford. Indiana Senator Richard Lugar wrote to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration on Roe’s behalf as well. So far, no bites, however, the inventor has said he will pitch to manufacturers if the automakers aren’t interested in this type of auto glass.
At TeleGlass, we encourage new technology that improves vehicle safety standards. Besides our main business of windshield repair and other auto glass repair, our company is constantly on the look out for processes that make auto glass safer, more effective and durable.

What is safe drive away time? It is a phrase you must understand when choosing an auto glass shop to replace your windshield. Safe Drive Away Time (SDAT) is the amount of time an adhesive requires to reach the level of strength necessary to safely hold a windshield in place in the event of a crash. The adhesive is the bonding agent auto glass companies use to seal your new windshield to your vehicle. There are many different adhesives a glass company can use and specific instructions they should follow for it to work correctly on your vehicle. Sika (a manufacturer of windshield adhesives) pioneered the concept of SDAT to the AGR industry in the early 1990’s, so I decided to include their web-site that has a great video that explains this concept.

It’s easy to see out of your windshield when driving on the open road. Windshields allow for a large picture window view of the road in front of you. However, those areas you can’t see – to the side and behind – are downright nerve-wracking. That’s why protecting yourself against the dreaded “blind spot” is a must.
Many believe that the blind spot cannot be avoided even with the best auto glass. But recently, however, The New York Times published an article by Christopher Jensen citing that blind spots are a myth. As Jensen explains, all a driver has to do is set the automobile’s mirrors in the proper position. For example, to position the mirrors, Jensen states that: “The driver leans his head against the driver’s window and sets the mirror so that the side of the vehicle is just visible. Then, the driver leans to the middle of the vehicle (between the front seats) and does the same thing with the passenger-side mirror.”
I think Christopher was well intentioned, but really… he’s making this way too hard. Here’s what you do. Go to the supermarket, and pull into a parking space with two cars on either side. Pull forward to the point that you can just barely not see either car by looking through the front driver’s side and front passenger side door glass. Next, adjust your mirrors until you can see the cars right next to you. You should not be able to see your own car in your side mirror – yet that’ show almost all driver’s adjust their side mirrors. If you can see your own car, you have a blind spot.

Blind spots can be eliminated, which in turn eliminates the number of crashes, auto glass repair, windshield repair, replacement glass for side and rear windows, et cetera. If you’re unfortunate enough to have a mishap and are looking for a trusted auto glass repair company, TeleGlass can help you with whatever you need.

Here at TeleGlass, we are committed to following the voluntary Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards (AGRSS) for any glass repair or replacement glass work on your car.
The AGRSS Council is a not-for-profit organization committed to the safe replacement of automobile glass and the only North American safety standards. AGRSS was founded and is supported by companies in the auto glass replacement industry that keep safe installation as their primary goal, just as we do at TeleGlass.com. The AGRSS mission addresses three primary goals to ensure auto glass repair excellence and safety: “developing and maintaining standards for the replacement of auto glass; education and accrediting the industry; and promoting the AGRSS standard to the insurance industry and driving public at large.”
In fact, the AGRSS Council is so dedicated to its mission, it will be hosting its Fifth Annual International Auto Glass Safety Conference in November 2009 and we will be there with our TeleGlass.com member providers. There will be much to learn about safety during the many seminars presented by people who are passionate about auto glass safety. This years keynote speaker will be, Captain Chelsea “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot of the “Miracle on the Hudson.” As the AGRSS Council notes, Sullenberger is a modern-day hero dedicated to safety. The conference will also host the annual Walt Gorman Memorial Windshield Repair Olympics. Last year, Randy Chadwick of Glasspro, a TeleGlass.com member provider out of Charleston, SC, was able to demonstrate a top-notch replacement technique and come away with the first place prize.
We applaud their efforts, and believe that the AGRSS Council and TeleGlass are a perfect match for ensuring safety for repair work of either your windshield or any other auto glass need.

When talking about auto glass, one often focuses on the windshield and forgets about the other glass, which is just as important. Side and rear car windows are designed in a totally different way than windshields, in fact, consisting of more durable automobile glass.
Side and rear car windows are made of tempered glass, which undergoes a thermal process of being heated then quickly cooled. This strengthens it four to five times more than non-tempered glass. Upon collision, tempered glass will break into pebble-size pieces, ensuring the safety of the drivers and passengers. Unique from the laminate glass used in a windshield repair, if any part of the side or rear car window glass is damaged, the entire panel will shatter, making it necessary for replacement auto glass. “Auto glass repair” is usually used to indicate repairing the chip or ding in a windshield and not replacing the car glass. From that perspective, your car’s side glass cannot be repaired; it must be replaced.
For any auto glass repair of side or rear windows, please contact us at TeleGlass, where we are experts in installing the safest glass for your car.
