I would guess there probably isn’t anyone who doesn’t fear being involved in a car accident. The sound of crushing steel combined with the discordance of auto glass is an experience we’d rather live without. We’ve all heard the stories. My car rolled over six times onto the other side of the highway and I walked away with only minor injuries. How is that possible?
Luckily for us we live in a day and age when personal safety is of utmost importance. Especially in an automobile. I remember when I was growing up, sitting in the way back of my mom’s station wagon hanging my feet out the back window and I certainly wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Now, it is well documented, seatbelts are the best tool to keep all passengers the safest in your vehicle, but it’s only part of it. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) publishes the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) that manufacturers must meet in order for their vehicles to be legally sold in the United States. The ones related to windshields are FMVSS #205 (“Glazing Materials”) and FMVSS #212 (“Windshield Mounting”). You can find the standards here, both FMVSS205 and FMVSS212. The connection is that seat belts, air bags and your windshield all work together to keep you in your vehicle in the case of a rollover accident and specifically it is the windshield that keeps the roof from caving in on you.
Now these standards are enforced when a new car rolls off the assembly line, but remember there are no mandatory standards for any auto glass company replacing that factory sealed windshield. At TeleGlass.com we take your safety very seriously and our members are committed to safety and adheres to the only voluntary auto glass replacement safety standards in our country (AGRSS).
If you must have auto glass repair work done, it is best to consult a trusted glass repair company such as TeleGlass. Before installation of the replacement glass, make sure the company has thoroughly explained (or listed on their website) their policies and guarantees for windshield safety.
Please contact TeleGlass today for windshield repair and any replacement issues with your auto glass.

Ok, we all see it in movies… when two people romantically lay on their hood and windshield under the moonlight, haha Is this actually safe? Is the windshield likely to crack? How long can you really lay on it before any damage is done?
Windshield romance?
This week’s question was found floating around the Web with some dubious answers. As we’ve touched on auto glass love in the past, I couldn’t resist answering Anthony’s question here.
Your windshield is actually a safety device. If your car has a passenger side air bag, it’s designed to bounce off the windshield, which absorbs some of the pressure from the explosion that inflates the air bag, before making contact with the passenger.
Additionally, modern vehicles count on the windshield to support up to 70% of the weight of the car in the event of a roll over accident.
You’re going to dent the hood of your car, not damage the windshield.
Caveats:
If someone installed a windshield improperly
If there was an unperceivable bend in the vehicle’s body putting pressure on the windshield
If there’s a chip or crack in the windshield already
If the windshield is already under stress for some other reason
You could potentially damage the glass. In these examples, you’re just exacerbating an existing condition. If that happens, Anthony, we can hook you up with a quality windshield repair.

Have you ever had a pesky sticker on your auto glass that you just couldn’t get off? No matter what you tried, scraping, scratching, begging, pleading, that sticker just won’t come off your windshield. So what do you do?
Many people look to home remedies for removal of stickers from automobile glass. One remedy that seems to cure all is to spray glass cleaner on the sticker, wait for five minutes and simply peel off the glass. Many car owners swear by this method because it does not harm the sticker in any way, and you can attach to other windshields if needed. If the sticker will end up in the rubbish bin anyway, another remedy is to scrape it off with a razor blade. Be cautious while doing this so you do not end up with a scratched windshield! Many people prefer to spray on a glass cleaner, turpentine, or nail polish first, then carefully scrape away at the sticker. Some even employ the method of heating the area with a hair dryer, and while still hot, sliding a piece of thin string in between the sticker and the glass to remove it. Do not attempt this in cold conditions – you could crack the windshield!
Here at TeleGlass, if you are in need of either a glass repair or replacement glass, we will be happy to help you with sticker removal. In the case of a windshield repair, the technician will remove the inspection sticker from your old windshield and transfer it to your new one. This is just one of the many services offered by TeleGlass for all of your auto glass repair needs.

Hello everyone! Here we are again with the next installment of TG the TeleNinja and his crazy auto glass breaking stories.
First things first! We have a new member to TeleGlass.com as well. Glass Specialty who provides service in Illinois, Iowa , Indiana and Missouri will now be servicing TeleGlass customers.
This week we thank a flickr member Alezazul.com for this photo of a public bus in Cuba with some curious auto glass damage on the windshield. This my friends, is a perfect story for the TeleNinja to add his spin on!
Our story begins with TG, Gomez the sock monkey and their friend Lazer Duck hanging out on a Friday night, when Lazer Duck decides sitting around TG’s mom’s house really isn’t much fun they need to go on a real vacation. As they sit there smoking their Cuban cigars, Gomez says, why sit here and smoke Cuban cigars when we can go to Cuba?

Galileo didn’t invent the telescope, he just made it better. 400 years ago today, Galileo presented the government of the city-state Venice with an improved version of a telescope that the local government was about to purchase from the Dutch. Galileo improved on their concept, introducing optics that allowed the user to see the image right side up – a considerable improvement over his competition.
The telescope was initially pitched as an asset to commerce and the military. Pirates were a problem for Venice, and Galileo demonstrated the telescope as an effective tool for keeping an eye on ships at sea.
The idea was so well received that Galileo, a mathematics professor, was given a raise and lifetime tenure at the University of Padua. Soon, Galileo turned his telescope toward the heavens, and a new branch of science, telescopic astronomy, was born.
While it doesn’t have much to do with the repair of windshields, I hope this diversion was worth your time. National Geographic published some nice pieces on the subject today if you would like to learnmore.

It’s a common story. It’s a beautiful day, southern California temperatures and an endless blue sky. You turn onto a busy street. As you’re making the turn, you feel a thump against your car. What is that, you ask yourself? Luckily, it’s only a stray trash can set too far from the curb. Yet your heart is still in your throat because you never saw it in the way.
Sun glare is a serious danger, and many of us do not understand how serious. Sadly enough, many deaths from pedestrians and passengers alike have been attributed to this problem. Sun glare begins with the windshield, and the auto glass. Today windshields are aerodynamically designed to give a sleek, flawless appearance. Due to this design, the dashboard enlarges, causing reflection. As noted by the news program 20/20, when manufacturers use a light color for the dashboard to match the upholstery, it creates an even bigger problem. When a windshield against a light-colored dashboard was tested by a 20/20 reporter, the driver’s view looked clear through the automobile glass. But when he put a dark material over the light-colored dashboard, a child suddenly appeared in the driver’s vision. Scary, we know.
At TeleGlass we pride ourselves on helping our customers prevent an auto glass repair, full replacement glass, or the worst scenario of bodily harm. Therefore, here are some tips to stop sun glare. The first is to get polarized glasses, easily bought online or even at your local mall or golf shop. Polarized lenses are special because they can cut through glare, as opposed to regular glasses which cannot. If you have a light-colored dashboard, you can discuss how to reduce glare with your local body shop.
TeleGlass cares about your safety first and foremost. For more information about a windshield repair or any other auto glass repair, you can reach us anytime via the click of a mouse or 1-888-479-9590.

As you can see from James’ post, our office has recently moved. We have moved to a larger facility to accommodate our growing company. In searching for and purchasing a new building, we have made the company wide decision to Go Green! So how exactly are we going green? I’m glad you’ve asked.
We have installed recycle bins around the office for any and all paper products.
We have reduced our need for water by installing waterless hand cleaner, and water limiting toilets in all of our bathrooms.
In regards to our non-recyclable trash, we have arranged for our trash to be picked up every two weeks to help eliminate the amount of fumes from the trash pickup truck while lowering that carbon foot print.
Company wide we have gone with direct deposit for our paychecks so we no longer have paper checks.
Any paper items we need to save, we scan in and keep an electronic copy, then shred and recycle the original.
Energy efficient windows and refractive tinting to lessen the building’s solar heat gain.
Some other touches:
Even the flourescent lighting is the most energy efficient we could find.
Where possible, rooms have motions sensors in the ceiling for the lighting.
Even the exit signs use LEDs, one of the most energy efficient sources of light available.
We’re still looking for more ways to lessen our impact, but you can help, too. TeleGlass fully embraces windshield repair, helping reduce unnecessary trash in the landfills. If you would like a confirmed windshield repair appointment, head on over to our home page. Unlike our competitors, you won’t just request an appointment – you’ll actually book it.
