arlington

The Web site may still be running, but the offices are closed. If you need a new windshield, we’ll be happy to help you.

Tomorrow.

Today we take a moment to remember those that fell in service to our country. That’s why I liked this photo so much. It shows families taking the time to say thank you by visiting the fallen.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Please remember to always think of our troops who have given their lives to keep us safe.

At TeleGlass we will continue to choose the right member glass shops to make sure your windshield is properly installed to keep you and your family safe. This week, our member shop Mr. Go-Glass located in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia was highlighted on channel 16 in a series called Travels with Charlie. If you missed it, don’t worry, we have the clip here!

Auto Glass Expert Read more from Michelle Chalmers. As the Director of Member Relations, I find the "best of the best" auto glass companies to become members of TeleGlass.com. Our goal is to provide swift, quality service for all windshield replacements or repairs and it takes a keen eye to find the best.

Sheila, Michelle, and I went to the Independent Glass Association‘s Convention and Spring Auto Glass Show this week. More about that later, but for now I wanted to highlight one of the relationships we were happy to strengthen.

We don’t do business with Sika, and neither do you. But a lot of the glass shops we partner with do, and when James and Tom invited us to lunch on Wednesday, we enjoyed the chance to get to know them better. They had a nice display at their booth, and they make really good products for auto glass replacement. I really admire their stance on safety and how it applies to windshield replacements.

ellen-blakely-tempered-glass-mosaic1This week’s question is from Sue Noury, from Plaistow, NH. Sue asks TeleGlass, “What happens to the auto glass that was damaged after you’ve replaced it? Is it recycled some how?”

Well Sue, this is an excellent question. First let me say that the majority of auto glass does not get recycled. Sadly, most of the broken windshields will end up in a landfill. Tempered glass also generally does not get recycled. This is not to say that auto glass never gets recycled. We have discovered that there are different companies have been able to find useful way to recycle broken auto glass, both tempered and windshields. [click to continue…]

Ready to walk: Maggie, Manoli, Linda, Jenn, Lori, Alaine, & Kim

Follow up from the Walk Against Hunger post last week: All told, the walk could be considered nothing less than a success. Over 45,000 walkers converged on the streets of Boston, Cambridge, Newton, and Braintree to complete a 20 mile trek in a battle against hunger.

Can you spot the TeleGlass employee?

Manoli – thanks for giving back to the community we serve. We’re proud to have you as part of the team!

We’re looking forward to the next charity walk, which a couple more team members will be joining. Mark, Rachel, and Manoli will all be participating. Look for information about that event here on Seeing Clearly in the coming days.

As part of our weekly TeleGlass feature, “If TeleGlass,” we’re proud to bring you Playing for Change. Chances are, if you spend a little bit of time on the Web, you’ve already been exposed to this. If you’re like me, you also ignored it the first several times you could have watched it. As a public service, TeleGlass is pleased to present Playing for Change, complete with embedded video.

Don’t press play and turn it off after 10 or 15 seconds. Watch the video from beginning to end. This has nothing to do with auto glass. It won’t help you with your windshield replacement… but we liked it a lot, and wanted to share something that might briten your day the way it did ours. If you’re interested in the music, we strongly encourage you to visit their site.

If TeleGlass were involved in an effort like this, the only thing we could really do for street performer Clarence Bekker is hold a windshield above him to keep him dry when it rains. We’d better stay fans from afar.

If TeleGlass Played for Change

If any of you are crazy LOST fans like me, you are constantly questioning if what happens in the show, could actually happen in real life. More often than not I am left with no answers as the space-time continuum, physics, time-travel, smoke monsters, dimensions, altered perceptions, and the Dharma Initiative are beyond my brain power. I do however know about auto glass, and last weeks episode ‘The Variable’ was factually incorrect!

The episode had Kate, Jack and Daniel speeding away in a 1970′s Jeep, probably a CJ5 model, and the windshield got shot at, and shattered into a million pieces. Not possible people! The windshields that were made for a Jeep from the 1970′s are all laminated parts. Laminated parts = crack, not shatter. I understand that auto glass shattering everywhere is better for dramatic effect, but I think movies and TV shows often don’t consider that normal humans drive these cars and maybe don’t realize that the windshield will not shatter, and that a lot of these movie dramatics do not really happen in real life. Let me show you some examples of possible and not possible auto glass events. [click to continue…]

Ok folks, here it is, our very first “Ask TeleGlass” answer blog!

This particular question came in a few hours ago, and we just had to use it in our first “Ask TeleGlass” post. Dave W. of Richmond, Virginia asked TeleGlass, “I am changing out a windshield on a vehicle that has a state inspection sticker on it. What is the “trick” that professionals use to remove and reinstall those stickers?”

Eliza Adams Gorge, New HampshireAhh, the Granite State. First of the 13 colonies to declare independence from Mother England, New Hampshire is also home to the first U.S. astronaut Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr., who hails from East Derry. Your favorite auto glass blogger, yours truly, also calls New Hampshire home.

When you’re not wondering what the state flower is (the purple lilac), or need to know the state bird (the purple finch), you could probably find a better source. If, however, you’re looking for some general information about auto insurance and how it applies to your vehicle’s glass, Rachel put together some very nice insurance resource pages for our guests here at Seeing Clearly. Being a resident of the White Mountain State, I thought it appropriate to showcase her New Hampshire page first.

Who Dunnit?Chances are if you own a car and have ever driven it, you have seen little rocks hit and crack your windshield. Typically, the normal case of events goes something like this. The rocks bounce along the road, breaking windshields at will. You schedule an appointment with a glass company, maybe file a claim, pay your deductible if you have one, and drive away with a new windshield. But what about when you are certain, 100% certain, that the rock came off of a construction vehicle, or someone else’s car, and cracked your vehicle, who is to blame then? Can you claim it against the other person’s policy? Will it be covered?
